Makeup is the one thing I never travel without. I’m just someone who, when I go out, I like to wear makeup. I don’t go “full out” and wear fake eyelashes or extreme contouring but I do usually wear a “full face” of makeup. For me, this consists of things like foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, mascara, etc. More specifically, here is a list of the makeup that I always travel with. (If you want a fun, packing list for your makeup and all travel items, I’ve created a FREE one for you to download here and use!)

Before I get into the makeup, I want to share what I carry my makeup in while traveling.
I have been carrying my makeup in a bag similar to this for years now. This bag holds my makeup, haircare products, and other toiletries. Right now, I use smaller bags inside of the larger makeup bag to house my actual makeup and then one for my makeup brushes.
The large bag has worked well, however, I’m looking at some different styles of makeup bags. These makeup bags seem to be great for travel. They seem to be easier to travel with.
Now let’s get into the makeup I always travel with!
Face Primer
I’ve only been using a face primer for a few years. I really didn’t know anything about primer before then, or that it’s helpful to use. With the rising number of makeup tutorials on YouTube though, thankfully, I’ve now learned a bit more about makeup and how to apply it!
After trying out different kinds of primer, this one by E.l.f. and this one by No7 have become my go-to face primers.
Concealer
After priming my face, I use this concealer from L’Oréal Paris. I sometimes try out different brands of makeup but this concealer has been working well for me. It’s a full coverage concealer and you only need to use a very small amount! I made the mistake when I first got it of using too much. Trust me, only a small amount of the L’Oréal Paris concealer is needed. I see this concealer lasting a long time.
Recently, I noticed that this other concealer from Maybelline New York has a lot of great reviews online so I may try it out next!
Foundation – It’s a Must!
Because of the Youtuber, Belinda Selene, I now use the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte foundation. It stays on my face all day and doesn’t feel heavy. The Pro-Matte foundation also doesn’t leave your face looking shiny. It has worked well for me for over three years now.
The packaging is compact and not glass, so that makes it easier to travel with.
Eye Shadow
With my face makeup, I tend to stick with the same products, once I find something I like. With eye shadow however, I enjoy trying out different brands. At the moment, I am using this pallet from Maybelline New York.
If you haven’t noticed by now, I use very budget-friendly makeup. So, the eye shadows I usually wear, comes from places like Walmart or Target. I have also used this pallet from E.l.f. and enjoyed its neutral colors. Sometimes when I’m traveling though, I’ll opt for a smaller eye shadow pallet like this, just so my makeup doesn’t take up too much space in my suitcase.
Eyeliner – A Makeup Must-Have for Me
If there is one thing in my makeup bag that I will never leave home without, it’s my eye liner! It seems so hard to find a good eye liner that isn’t hard to apply, won’t leave marks on your upper eyelid, and won’t wear off by the end of the day. I found all of those qualities when I discovered this eye liner from CoverGirl. It’s been my favorite eye liner for years! Seriously, I never travel without it.
Eyelash Primer
Like the face primer, I didn’t know there was also eyelash primer! What a gamechanger this eyelash primer from L’Oréal Paris has been for me. I now apply the eyelash primer before applying my mascara and I can see a difference in my lashes.
The only issue that I have found with this eyelash primer is that a lot of product is on the brush when you take it out of the tube. I always have to scrape some of it back into the tube and then clumps of primer sometimes still manage to get onto my lashes. I’ll keep using the primer though because it really does help to make my eyelashes look longer and fuller.
Mascara – Another Makeup Must-Have
After applying the L’Oréal Paris eyelash primer, I let it dry for a minute or so and then apply this mascara from CoverGirl. I’ve tried several different mascaras over the years and I’ve found that I like wearing waterproof mascara. It doesn’t run or leave marks on my eyelids. My eyes water sometimes when I laugh a lot (or cry, obviously).
An embarrassing experience actually happened to me once because of bad mascara. Tears had filled my eyes from laughing so much and no one told me that, because of the tears, my mascara had run and it was all over my eyelids! I walked around everyone for a while with mascara smeared all over my eyes. I never used that mascara again! From now on, I just stick to what I know works well, and for me, it’s the waterproof mascara from CoverGirl.
Bronzer
For bronzer, I actually just use a dark powder and then contour my face with it. I’m currently using one from L.A. Colors but I do try out different kinds of bronzer, occasionally.
Setting Powder
As a setting powder, I usually just get a light powder to set under my eye, forehead, and chin. At the moment, I’m using this one and while I try new powders occasionally, this powder from CoverGirl has been working nicely. Also, I noticed that it smells great too! I wasn’t expecting that from makeup powder.
To set the areas of my face that I used the bronzer on, I’ll go over those areas lightly, with a darker powder (though, lighter than the bronzer powder). I using one from CoverGirl as the moment and have had no problems with it but I may try out a different one when it runs out.
As you can see, some products I’m fiercely loyal to and others, I like to change up. With powders, I change them up periodically.
Highlighter
For a finishing touch to my face, I like to use a bit of highlighter to highlight my cheekbones, tip of my nose, chin, and anywhere else that I want to add a bit of shine.
I don’t have a favorite highlighter but I am currently using this one from E.l.f. I’ve been using it for a long time now and still haven’t even come close to using up the small container of it yet!
Lipstick
I have been trying to wear lipstick more often, so I keep some form of it in my makeup bag while traveling. This lipstick from NYX and this one from E.l.f. are ones that I’ve started to really enjoy wearing.
How I Remove My Makeup
I do want to mention that to take off all of this makeup, I use a makeup remover I just recently discovered. It’s the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water for Waterproof Makeup and it has been great for removing my makeup lately. I just squirt a little onto a microfiber cloth or washcloth, and use it to wipe away my eye makeup.
Well, there you have it! This round up of makeup products are ones that I actually use on a daily basis. I don’t own a lot of makeup in general, but this list is what I actually do always have with me. If I’m traveling, you can always find these items in my makeup bag!
