It all started three and a half years ago.
I was a member of a military spouse group on Facebook and someone had posted the most beautifully decorated paper planner I had ever seen. I have had planners for years but I had never thought to decorate them with stickers and definitely not decorating them to the extent at which I had just witnessed. It got me curious though. What kind of planner was it? It had a layout that was different from planners I had seen and used in the past.
Of course, I began to search around online for more about this planner. I found out that it was from Erin Condren and it was called the Life Planner. Before I knew it, I was joining Facebook groups dedicated to this Erin Condren Life Planner, and even finding Youtube videos about how to decorate it. I loved how this planner was set up. Each day was set up vertically which made it easier to make lists and I am more of a list maker so this layout was perfect! I ultimately had to buy my own.
I bought my very first Erin Condren Life Planner
at the end of January, 2015. It arrived about a week later and from there on out, I became obsessed with this planner and planning in general. I had to buy all the things. I bought stickers, washi tape, planner sticker kits, scrapbook paper, and anything else that I had seen that you could decorate this planner with. I was officially obsessed with planners.
My planner started looking as good as the first one I had seen in that Facebook group. I eventually decided to create an Instagram account just for my planner. Call me crazy, but there were lots of planner Instagram accounts already out there so I wasn’t the only crazy planner girl! Actually, I wasn’t the only crazy, planner person. There are some guys out there with beautiful planners too!
I loved having a place to share my planner spreads each week
and I still, to this day, have an Instagram account just for my planners. I love scrolling through Instagram and seeing what others have created for their planners and how beautifully they have decorated them. Not everyone has an Erin Condren Life Planner though.
Over the past couple of years, so many other small and large businesses have created their own planners and planner systems. Now, the options and possibilities are endless when it comes to choosing the planner that is perfect for you. It is both amazing and overwhelming to have so many options. Because of this, I have now become obsessed with another type of planner/planning system.
Traveler’s notebooks are the new thing in the planner world.
Well, not new, exactly, but they became hugely popular in the planner community and have stuck around for a while now. I think their versatility and customization is what makes them so popular among the planner community. That is why I gave them a try. Here is the first traveler’s notebook I ever bought.
You can literally use traveler’s notebooks for anything. Some examples are: as a general planner (obviously), a journal, fitness journal, work planner, school notes, work notes, blog planner, blog notes, brain dump, art journal, and so much more.
So you can see why someone who likes to be organized, creative, and keep memories, has become obsessed with this creative planning world.
I have had an Erin Condren Life Planner for over three years now, and I have decorated nearly every week in each one of them since I bought my first one. It’s something that fulfills my need to explore my creativity and I get to do something new with each week. It’s also something that I write memories down in, and of course, it keeps my life planned out and organized.

My traveler’s notebooks are also something that I use often but I mix up how I use them. They are such a fun, creative outlet for me so I don’t see myself getting rid of those anytime soon!
