The older I get, the more I want to recieve useful gifts during the holiday season. This year, I’ve traveled a lot more than usual and have realized that I want more travel related gifts that I can actually use. So I’ve put together a list of gift ideas that I believe travelers, specifically solo, female travelers would love to receive. I personally use a lot of the items on this list or would love to receive them as I think they would be great to have as a female traveler. Here’s the ultimate gift guide for solo female travelers.
Small Crossbody Bag or Backpack
What traveler doesn’t need something to carry their stuff in? Whether they’re on a day trip or vacation, a small bag or backpack is always useful.
Passport Holder
If the female traveler(s) in your life has a passport, then she basically needs a passport holder. These are so cute and feminine but if you’re looking for something a little more neutral, these are a great choice too!
Luggage Tag
Travelers need to have contact information on their luggage, so why not make it fun? I’m obsessed with how adorable these luggage tags are and I’m sure the female traveler in your life will love them too!
Travel-Themed Shirt
I’m a sucker for travel themed anything but these shirts are too cute! They would be perfect for female travelers to wear on travel days or for those awesome Instagram shots you know they’ll take while traveling.
Yoga Pants (or Just Comfy Travel Clothes)
Yoga pants are a must-have item in a girl’s closet and I always bring a pair of them when I travel. They are just so much more comfortable to wear than jeans when you have a long flight or drive. Female travelers will love you for buying them yoga pants!
Space-Saving Storage Bags
Space-saving bags would be awesome for your female traveler if she’s trying to pack a lot into a small suitcase or bag. I’ve used space-saving bags for storage in my home but they required a vacuumed to pull the excess air out of them. These bags don’t require any additional equipment! Just pack, zip, and roll to get the air out of them.
Pain Relief/Headache Medicine
Let’s face it, sometimes traveling makes us sick or something gives us a headache (screaming baby on a plane). Pain relief medicine is such a simple gift for female travelers but definitely comes in handy!
Vitamin C
This will help any traveler fight off germs that will certainly be lurking around during a flight. No one wants to be sick while traveling so getting her some vitamin C in the form of candy, pills, drink powder, etc. will let her know you care about her health.
Shampoo/Conditioner Bar
Shampoo bars take up so much less space than the traditional shampoo and conditioner bottles! Plus, if the female traveler you’re buying for it flying, she won’t have to worry about the amount of liquid she can have. And a little bonus tip for shampoo bars, you can usually use them as body wash too! Now, you’ve eliminated another bottle of liquid from her suitcase and freed up more room.
I use shampoo bars now and love traveling with them and knowing that I don’t have to worry about shampoo and conditioner leaking out all over my suitcase! If you want to read more about my personal shampoo bar experience, you can do that here.
Book Guides to Favorite Places or Bucket List Place
Guides, books, etc. are always a good gift idea for travelers. Be sure to find out where they are planning to travel or have always wanted to visit. Then, give them a book or guide for extra planning resources or inspiration for their next adventure!
AirBnB Gift Card
If you know your female traveler stays in AirBnBs or wants to start using them more, consider getting her an AirBnB gift card. This will take away some of the financial stress of traveling when she no longer has to worry so much about the cost her AirBnB.
Phone Tripod or Camera Tripod
I recently bought this phone tripod because as someone who doesn’t always have a travel partner, I needed to still be able to take good photos of myself. I haven’t used it much yet but I can already tell it’ll be a gamechanger during solo trips. Do your solo, female traveler a favor and buy her a tripod.
Phone Charger
Who doesn’t need a phone charger these days? It’s always a good idea to have extra ones, just in case and it’s no different for travelers. Just pick up some extra ones for them and know that they’ll definitely get used at some point.
Portable Phone Charger
I love having a portable phone charger! I feel like this is such a must-have item for every traveler. We all basically rely on our phones nowadays so when the battery dies, we feel lost. Don’t let that happen to your solo, female traveler! Give her the gift of always having a charged phone.
SD Card
If you’re female traveler uses a camera at all, she needs a way to save those travel photos. Find out what kind of SD card or photo saving device her camera uses and buy her some extra ones. She will definitively use them!
iTunes Gift Card
Travelers will have some downtime and need something to do. By gifting them an iTunes gift card, they can purchase music, movies, whatever entertainment that they want and use it when they have time to kill.
Music Subscription
Again, music is always a good idea. Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, or some other music subscription is an awesome gift for travelers. Just find out which app they use or like most and buy them a subscription to it.
Pepper Spray (or Some Sort of Safety Device)
I like to carry pepper spray in my purse or bag all the time. I feel like it’s something that especially female travelers should have near them, just in case. If your female traveler doesn’t feel comfortable with pepper spray, then I also used to carry a personal alarm that, thankfully I never had to use but felt a bit safer knowing that I had it if needed. Regardless of what your female traveler wants, it’s always a good idea to have something that makes you feel a bit safer.
Self-Defense Class
I felt like I should add this to the gift idea list for solo female travelers because I think self-defense education is handy information for anyone, especially if you’re traveling solo. I hope that your female traveler never has to use self-defense but wouldn’t you feel better about her traveling solo knowing that she knows how to take care of herself?
Hidden Pouch for Money and Valuables
Travelers can be a target for pickpocketing. Don’t let your female traveler fall victim to one. Purchase this so that she can hide her money and keep it safe.
Gift Card That Can be Used Anywhere (For Emergencies)
We all hate to think about the things that can wrong while traveling but sometimes, they happen. Gift your female traveler with a bit of financial security by giving her a gift card that can be used anywhere in case of an emergency.
Gas Card
If you’re female travelers prefers road trips, give her the gift of gasoline (or diesel). Sooner or later, she’ll have to fill up her vehicle and it’ll be nice for her to know that she can go even farther with more gas in her tank.
*BONUS IDEA*
If you decide to get your female traveler several of the items on this ultimate gift guide list, put the items in a tote, new suitcase, bag, etc. It will make a cute, gift basket type of present that will allow her use everything (including what the gifts come in) and she’ll love it, for sure!
Okay, so I think that’s about 22 gift ideas for the solo, female traveler! I hope that if nothing else, it has gotten you thinking about the female traveler in your life and the useful gifts she may like to receive in the future.
